Dublin’s Camogie team began their 2022 Littlewoods Ireland League campaign with a defeat to All-Ireland Champions Galway at the TU Dublin Grangegorman Campus on Saturday afternoon.

With several new faces in their lineup, Adrian O’Sullivan’s side started well in the wintery conditions and matched the visitors score-for score in the opening quarter, thanks to points from Aisling O’Neill and Aisling Maher.

Galway, however, turned the screw midway through the first half, shooting 1-02 without reply- their goal coming from Aoife Donohue.

A point just before half-time from Sinead Nolan meant the home side trailed by 1-07 to 0-04 at the break.

Galway extended their lead further early in the second half, with two scores, with Aisling O’Neill again replying for the hosts.

However, a second yellow card for Jody Couch ten minutes into the second half saw Dublin reduced to 14 players.

That helped Galway finish the stronger, as they left Grangegorman with a 12-point winning margin.

Next up for Dublin is a trip to face Offaly next weekend.
