Mon, 10th March 2025

Setanta lead the way at the summit of the Go-Ahead Ireland Adult Hurling League Division 3 table following their 1-17 to 1-10 victory over St Vincent’s at Páirc Naomh Uinsionn on Saturday evening.

Fionntán Mac Gib was in sparkling form for the visitors throughout, exerting a massive influence from centre field while Peter Treanor was equally dominant at centre-back for a Setanta side that led by two points at half-time.

Luke Kelly kept their scoreboard ticking over throughout as he contributed 1-11 in total and with Seán Ó Riain and Steven Goff also on target, they confirmed their win in the final quarter through a brilliant solo goal from Kelly and a trio of insurance points by Mac Gib.

They are joined at the top by a Commercials outfit that eased their way to a 2-21 to 1-10 win against Naomh Fionnbarra in Rathcoole.

Jamie Flanagan (1-4) and Daniel O’Kelly (0-4) proved a handful for the away defence while at the opposite end of the field, Callum Morris dictated matters from centre-back.

Their lives were made all the easier by the control given by both Conor Cleary and Éanna Ó Nualláin, who chipped in with 0-2 and 1-1 respectively from midfield.

Round Towers Clondalkin also have the maximum points after two rounds following their 1-15 to 2-6 win against O’Toole’s at Blunden Drive.

In AHL4, Skerries Harps picked up their second successive win as they overcame Clanna Gael Fontenoy by 3-19 to 1-14 in Skerries.

The hosts commenced in a dominant manner, building up a 1-4 to 0-0 lead after ten minutes with their goal coming from a Sean Graham penalty and two superb scores from centre-back Simon Connolly saw them enter the break with a healthy 1-10 to 0-6 advantage.

The visitors raised their intensity after the break to reduce their deficit to three points but Harps retained their composure courtesy of long-range scores from Niall Connolly and Simon Connolly.

They effectively settled the issue as Sean Graham netted from Euan Walsh’s pass and captain Matt Dooley added the final gloss with a third Skerries goal.

Goalkeeper Cian Coleman more than played his part for the winners, who kept the away attack frustrated for the large part through strong showings from both Cal Duncan and Rory Boylan.

In Silver Park, Kilmacud Crokes delivered an assured display as they got the better of Castleknock by 2-14 to 0-10.

The foundation for their success lay at the back through Oran Lavelle and Cathal Crean while their midfield pairing of Finn Walsh and James Neary shared four points over the hour.

Ruairí Walsh top scored with 1-6 from corner-forward with substitute James Dunphy more than making his mark as he scored a superb solo goal in the second-half.
