Naomh Mearnóg continue to lead the way at the summit of the Go Ahead Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 3 table following their 0-21 to 1-12 win over Naomh Fionnbarra at Páirc Mearnóg on Wednesday evening.
Their win maintained their perfect record this season but they were made to work extremely hard for their win against a typically hard-working Fionnbarra outfit.
Tom Cosgrove was a rock for Mearnóg at the back with Jack Kehoe also impressing while Bernard Deay was the pick of the home attack with three points from play.
Shane Kavanagh top scored with 0-8 (8f) while Chris Farrelly (0-3) and Joey Kinnane (0-2) also troubled the umpires over the hour.
That win ensured the Portmarnock side preserved their three-point lead over a Clontarf side that beat St Vincent’s by 2-21 to 1-15 with Bray Emmets overtaking Naomh Olaf courtesy of their 2-23 to 2-8 win over the Balally outfit.
There was another home win at St Mobhi Road as Na Fianna proved too strong for St Maur’s, winning by 2-21 to 0-10.
Goalkeeper Darragh Bergin was hugely impressive for the hosts in terms of his puck-outs and general play and the experience of Martin Quilty at midfield proved invaluable as he added four points from play.
Eoin Flaherty was their main marksman, finishing the game with 1-12 to his name, as Na Fianna picked up their second league win of their campaign.
Round Towers Clondalkin also tasted their second victory of the year as they got the better of Ballyboden St Enda’s by 3-17 to 4-9 at Monastery Road.
The hosts were indebted to Senan Walsh, Harry Kelly, Mick Broderick, Liam Redmond and Craig Doherty in securing their five-point win.
In Go Ahead Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 4 , Lucan Sarsfields maintained top spot as they enjoyed a comfortable 3-15 to 1-9 win over St Mark’s at McGee Park.
Hot on their heels however are a St Peregrine’s team that enjoyed their sixth win of the season when edging Kevins by 1-17 to 1-14 at Dolphin Park.
The hosts started on the front foot but a goal from Kieran O’Sullivan allowed St Peregrine’s to settle into the tie and they remained in contention through outstanding defensive showings from Mossy O’Connell and Shane Sweeney.
That allowed the visitors to seize control upon the restart through two points apiece by Craig Melvin, Oran McEvoy and Eoin Gleeson, scores that proved their weight in gold by the final whistle.
At Pearse Park, Crumlin cemented fourth place in table as goals at crucial times helped them overcome Skerries Harps by 3-15 to 0-15.
Adam McGreal looked particularly sharp in the home attack as he plundered two goals with the remaining green flag waved by Kevin Elliott.
Peter Blake also proved a handful for the Harps defence as he contributed four points from centre-forward with Conor Foley at centre-back and goalkeeper Daniel Hanks impressing at the opposite end of the field.
