Ballinteer St John’s remain in joint top spot of the Go-Ahead Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 table following their 4-12 to 2-11 victory over St Mary’s Saggart in Airlie Park on Sunday morning.
The damage was done in the first half as the visitors pounced for a quartet of goals through Donnacha Carey, Dave Devereux, Liam Fenton and Colm Fitzpatrick.
They maintained their control through the efforts of Sean Parker, Iain Ó hEithir, Oisin Grady, Carey and substitute Tom Aherne while Ben Millist also caught the eye with three points from play.
Grady (0-3) and Jack Lundy (0-2) kept Ballinteer on the front foot with the remainder of their scores coming through Nicky Devereux, Liam Fenton, Aaron Bradshaw and Aherne.
Round Towers Lusk are another team with maximum points from two games as they edged Clontarf by 2-9 to 0-13 in St Anne’s Park.
The visitors were best served through the collective efforts of Dan Kiely, Ciaran Murphy, Luke Caul, James Hanratty, Donal Clarke and David Moore while Sean Bollard (1-2) and Darragh Kelly scored the all-important goals.
Liam Bohan kicked four points over the hour with Stephen Moore adding two scores as Lusk continue to impress following their promotion from AFL2.
There was another thrilling conclusion to events in Gormanstown as Thomas Davis pipped Skerries Harps by 1-12 to 2-8.
Harps looked to have done enough to pick up their first win of the year but wing-back Sean Kennedy proved the match-winner as he found the net deep into injury-time following excellent work by Eoin Kirby.
Adam Waddick delivered a hugely influential display for the visitors from centre-back along with corner-back Aaron Shorten while Ryan Deegan also impressed from centrefield.
Conor Guilfoyle (0-4) and league debutant Fionn Lynch (0-3) looked lively throughout while Kirby (0-3), Fionn Murray and Deegan added valuable points for Thomas Davis by the final whistle.
There was a similar margin of victory at Páirc Ciceam as Ballymun Kickhams pipped Castleknock by 1-17 to 3-10.
The scores were level at 1-8 apiece with Ballymun’s Robbie Bolger and Castleknock’s Senan Forker finding the net as the visitors the half strongly.
They maintained that momentum in the third quarter to go six points clear but the defensive efforts of Glen Sheridan, Leon Young and Kieron Kelly began to bring Kickhams back into the hunt.
They drew level late on with Ciaran McManus, Alan Hubbard and Cathal O’Tighe to the fore with Dean Rock settling the issue with a sumptuous strike deep into added time.
On Saturday morning, St Sylvester’s delivered a dominant second-half performance when pulling away from Cuala to register an 0-14 to 0-7 success in Broomfield.
The sides were level at 0-4 apiece at half-time with Cuala having spurned a couple of presentable goal chances and they were made to pay for their profligacy after the break with Sean Guiden top scoring for Syls with five points.
Alex Wright and Dylan Connolly chipped in with two points apiece with further scores from Dan O’Leary, James Cotter, Cian Donnelly, Karl Archbold and Paudie White seeing Syls home by double scores.
