Dublin’s Senior Hurlers are back in action at Croke Park this Saturday as they take on the current Allianz Hurling League, Munster and All-Ireland champions Limerick.
Micheál Donoghue’s side suffered defeat against Tipperary in the first round of league action but bounced back in Belfast with a win over Antrim last time out.
A last-gasp Cian O’Sullivan goal snatched the win for Dublin, as they were made to work for the points by a determined home side.
O’Sullivan led the way on the scoring front for Dublin with 1-5. Brian Hayes and Colin Currie both racked up a handful of scores for themselves too.
Our opponents this weekend, Limerick, are in excellent form and look to be on a mission to make 2024 as successful as recent years.
They got their league campaign up and running with a massive 1-36 to 1-9 win over Antrim and followed up their opening-day victory with a win against Westmeath in Mullingar last time out.
The Treaty County were made to work a little bit harder for the win in their second league game, after being level at the break, Limerick eventually managed to pull away from the hosts.
Donnacha Ó Dálaigh gave John Kiely’s men a bit of breathing space shortly before the end. Mark Quinlan and Paddy O'Donovan helped increase the Munstermen’s advantage before Tom Morrisey and Conor Boylan added the final points to Limerick’s tally.
Both teams’ complete attention has been on one another since the full-time whistles of their second league outing.
It promises to be a tough task against a talented Limerick side, but Dublin will be hoping O’Sullivan can continue his good form as he, Hayes and the likes of Séan and Colin Currie look for a second successive win.
Throw-in at Croke Park is at 5:15pm.
