Looking to build some momentum after a well-earned draw in the opening round of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, Dublin’s Senior Hurlers travel to Carlow this Saturday in the second round of Leinster action!
Two injury-time goals rescued a point for the Boys in Blue last weekend away to Wexford- Danny Sutcliffe with the first before Cian O’Sullivan rattled the net in the 73rd minute.
Dónal Burke was our top-scorer (0-07) and notched up scores in both halves as Dublin came away from a tricky test with something to show for their efforts.
Carlow had a 2023 to remember as they won the Joe McDonagh Cup, remaining undefeated in the group stages.
They advanced to the preliminary round of the All-Ireland, but were beaten by Dublin 2-25 to 0-21.
Tom Mullally’s men have picked up where they left off and they’ve had an impressive 2024 so far!
They enjoyed a successful league campaign, picking up four wins and a defeat before losing to second-placed Laois in the league final.
In the opening round, Carlow tasted defeat at the hands of an experienced Galway side, losing by 11 points.
Martin Kavanagh and goalscorers Jon Noland and Conor Kehoe put in notable shifts on a tough opening day assignment.
Kavanagh is one key player in Carlow’s forward-line and is one for Dublin to watch.
In the league, he was the top-scorer in Division 2A with a massive personal tally of 4-46 over the course of six league matches, averaging 9.66 points per game.
Dublin have had the edge over Carlow in their last two meetings in Championship settings, so let’s hope that continues on Saturday evening!
