We’re in a confident frame of mind: Ger Cunningham

Wed, 18th May 2016

Dublin senior hurling manager Ger Cunningham says his side are in a positive mood as they prepare for this Saturday's Leinster SHC quarter-final against Wexford in Croke Park (7.15).

The Dubs league campaign was a mixed bag and petered out against Limerick in their Division 1 quarter-final in Parnell Park.

“We’re going in with a confident frame of mind. We had a mixed league really from the point of view of that we started it and finished it poorly with two poor performances that we were disappointed with," says Ger.

“In between, we had some very good performances. So it’s hard to know where exactly we are in that situation. We’re looking for more consistency. And that’s what we’re looking for.

“That’s the big thing. We can’t say why that’s the situation. From our point of view, we need to be mentally right every game we play. Some days you’re not at the pitch of the game.

“We were disappointed with our performance against Limerick, as management and players. We had a good opportunity to get to a League semi-final. A home game against Limerick, we didn’t perform and that was disappointing."

With regards team news Colm Cronin has exams and will not be included, Ryan O'Dwyer and Niall Corcoran have returned from injury to line out for Kilmacud Crokes, Paul Schutte has recently been sidelined and missed Cuala's last Dublin SHC game, Peter Kelly and Cian Boland are still making their way back to full fitness, the McBride brothers (Cian and Rian) are both injured as is Ben Quinn and James Madden.
