Dublin under-21 hurlers will have to be more clinical if they are to defeat Westmeath in Wednesday night's Bord Gáis Energy Leinster U21HC semi-final in Parnell Park (7.30) according to their manager Joe Fortune.
The Dubs enjoyed an encouraging victory over Wexford away last time out when two second half goals put them on the road to victory despite not making the most of their first half opportunities - and this is an area their manager will be looking for improvement against the side who toppled Kilkenny in their last-eight clash.
"I think that it is going to be a very different type of match to what we saw against Wexford," says Joe.
"I would expect a very physical match and whereas we had a lot of time to work on Wexford in terms of their strengths and weaknesses we have had far less time to prepare for Westmeath.
"We know that everyone is talking about how strong Westmeath are and how well they played against Kilkenny in their own quarter-final but I still don't think that they have received the credit they deserve as a unit for that performance.
"They have some excellent players and I would imagine that scoring chances won't come as freely as they did against Wexford so we'll need to be more clinical in terms of our shooting when them opportunities arise," adds Joe.
The Dublin manager is encouraging Dublin fans to flock to the Donnycarney venue and give his side their full backing.
"Dublin need to make Parnell Park a tough place to come for away teams and the more noise and atmosphere that we can create on the night, the better.
"It doesn't matter how you win any semi-final as long as you come through and this is our mindset."
