We must rectify our errors: Jonny Cooper

We must rectify our errors: Jonny Cooper

Tue, 14th June 2016

Dublin senior footballer, Jonny Cooper, is expecting a Battle Royal when the Dubs face Meath in the Leinster SFC semi-final on Sunday week in Croke Park (4.0).

Meath impressed in overcoming Louth last Sunday in their provincial quarter-final in Parnell Park and the Na Fianna man knows Dublin will have to be at their best to prevail.

"They have a couple of new lads so that's a bit of an unknown quantity for us.

"They won against Louth in their first Championship game. They always rise to the occasion, especially against Dublin, and particularly now with the couple of good ball players they have around the half-forward line," says Jonny.

Reflecting on Dublin's own victory over Laois last time out in Nowlan Park Jonny says Jim Gavin's side have plenty of room for improvement.

"Defensively it was very disappointing; (there were) a couple of aspects throughout the game, particularly that nine or 10-minute period where we conceded a couple of scores.

"That wasn't up to our standards that we'd expect of ourselves.

"Certainly it was disappointed coming away from the game and having reviewed it, there were quite simple errors, individual errors and collective errors that hopefully we can rectify going forward because Meath have an offensive threat as well."

Jonny was interviewed at Toyota's launch of their new car sharing initiative 'YUKO Car Club'.
