We know we are in for a ferocious battle: McGuirk

Dublin minor hurling manager, Johnny McGuirk, has stressed that his side will need to be at their best to overcome Wexford in Sunday’s Electric Ireland Leinster MHC final at Croke Park (2.0).

The counties clashed in their opening round with the Slaneysiders prevailing after extra-time in Wexford Park so the scene is set for a pulsating battle this weekend.

“We know how good Wexford are having lost to them earlier this year and there is no way we will underestimate their challenge on Sunday,” says Johnny.

“They are only improving and they easily got past Offaly in the semi-final.

“They are a big, strong team that work terribly hard in winning breaks and the massive work ethic that they play with is something that we will have to match on the day," adds Johnny.

“They also have in Rory O’Connor one of the best forwards in the country at this level and given how well that they are organised, we know that we are in for a ferocious battle at the weekend.”
