U21 and minor footballers in Parnell Park double-header

Wed, 16th March 2016

Dublin’s under-21 footballers and minor footballers will form a Dublin v Laois double-header in Parnell Park this coming Saturday.

Dessie Farrell’s U21 footballers face Laois (2.0) in the EirGrid Leinster U21FC semi-final after both steered a safe passage through their opening rounds.

Dublin’s U21s overcame Meath 1-12 to 0-9 at the Donnycarney venue a couple of weeks back in a good battle with Con O’Callaghan leading the way up front with a tally of 1-7 (0-3f).

Laois plotted probably an even more tricky route when they came from behind to defeat Wicklow.

The O’Moore County men were seven points in arrears at one stage and had to spring senior ace Evan O’Carroll, who had been carrying an injury in advance of the game, to help turn the game in Laois’ favour while the deadball accuracy of Seán Moore (0-8, 0-6f) was instrumental in their victory.

The other semi-final took place on Wednesday night in O’Moore Park Portlaoise and Kildare overcame Westmeath 1-16 to 1-3.

The Dublin minor footballers face Laois in Parnell Park also this Saturday (4.0) in the Leinster MFL final.

Dublin struggled past Meath last Saturday, 1-13 to 1-7, in their Leinster MFL semi-final at Parnell Park and return this coming Saturday to face Laois who overcame a fancied Kildare, 2-9 to 0-12, in Maynooth College.
