Dublin’s Sinéad Aherne has been named as ‘The Croke Park’ Player of the Month for August. The ace full-forward has been Dublin’s main attacker all season and was instrumental in securing their progress through to the TG4 All Ireland Finals on September 25 in Croke Park.
Aherne was vital for Dublin as they came under pressure against a resilient Donegal team in the TG4 All Ireland semi-final where her 1-6, all but three points of which were from play, was vital as Dublin held on to win by three points.
Aherne was back to her very best in the thrilling TG4 All Ireland semi final against Mayo when it was her last gasp pointed free that secured the one-point win for Dublin.
Sinéad scored all but four points of Dubln’s 2-10 tally in that match and, for the second successive match, she was named as the player of the match for her exploits.
Sinéad plays her club football for St Sylvester’s and is already a four-time All Star.
Dublin will play Cork in the TG4 Ladies Senior All Ireland Football Final at Croke Park on September 25 with a 4pm throw in.
