Dublin minor hurlers defeated Kerry 2-15 to 0-15 in Saturday's Leinster MHL Round 2 clash at St Clare's, DCU.
After losing to Laois in the opening round the Dubs gave themselves a real chance of making the Shield semi-final with this victory after again fielding primarily an U17 selection.
The Kingdom led at half-time by a point but the changes Dublin made at the break and during the second half had the desired effort as they ran out victors by two clear goals.
Among those to do well for Johnny McGuirk's side were Emmet Allen, Cillian Costello, Luke Walsh and Lorcan Finnegan.
"We started off with playing some of the younger players and they went quite well as we trailed by just a point at half-time,” says manager Johnny McGuirk.
“We decided to bring on some of the more 'senior' players as the game progressed and they helped us to drive on in the second-half.
“Winning should allow us at least another match and all these games are important in terms of lads getting a chance to impress and the experience of playing at this level."
