Minor hurlers drawn to face Wexford in Leinster MHC

There were wins for Wexford, Offaly, Meath and Carlow in the first round of the Electric Ireland Leinster GAA Minor Hurling Championship on Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon the draw for the next stage of this year's Leinster MHC took place with Dublin drawn to face Wexford in Innovate Wexford Park on Saturday, April 23.

TIER 2: Wexford 5-15, Westmeath 1-12; Offaly 1-15, Laois 1-12

TIER 3: Meath 10-20, Wicklow 0-7; Carlow 0-14, Kildare 0-12

The results mean that Wicklow and Kildare bowed out of the championship for 2016.

The first stage of the draw placed the winners of the Tier 3 matches up against the losers of the Tier 2 games and it produced the following fixtures, in Section ‘A’:

Carlow v Laois, O'Moore Park (3:00)

Meath v Westmeath, Cusack Park, Mullingar (3:00)

Next, the winners of the Tier 2 matches were placed on one side of a draw, with Kilkenny and Dublin on the other, and the following fixtures resulted, in Section ‘B’:

Wexford v Dublin. Wexford Park (3:00)

Offaly v Kilkenny, Nowlan Park (3:00)

The four games are scheduled for Saturday, April 23.

The two winners from the Section B games (Wexford v Dublin; Offaly v Kilkenny) take their place in the semi-finals to be joined by the two counties left standing after the winners from the Section A games (Carlow v Laois; Meath v Westmeath) face the losers from Section B (Wexford v Dublin; Offaly v Kilkenny).
