Dublin minor football manager Paddy Christie knows his side will have to deliver a big performance to get over Meath in Saturday’s Electric Ireland Leinster MFC quarter-final in Navan (3.0).
Dublin overcame Offaly in Parnell Park in their opening round while the Royals travelled to Portlaoise and emerged two-point victors (0-11 to 1-6).
The sides clashed in the Leinster MFL semi-final during the early spring with Dublin winning narrowly as Meath’s strong defensive structure proved hard to break down.
“I certainly wouldn’t read too much into our league match earlier in the year as we’ll certainly have changes in our line-up from that match and I would expect Meath to be the same.
“With no back-door for the loser, the game takes on a totally different dynamic.
“There will certainly be more of an edge to the game, given what is at stake and there is also less margin for error which can sometimes put pressure on fellas.
“Although it’s not a huge journey down to Navan, playing in Páirc Tailteann is definitely an advantage to Meath and we respect them highly as opponents.”
