Mayo will punish us if we don’t cut out mistakes: Jim Gavin

Mayo will punish us if we don’t cut out mistakes: Jim Gavin

Thu, 15th September 2016

Jim Gavin says his side will need to improve and cut out the mistakes made against Kerry last time out if they are to defeat Mayo in Sunday's All-Ireland decider in Croke Park (3.30).

The Dubs boss also believes that the county's All-Ireland glories will count for nothing come Sunday.

“It’s a two-horse race now. It’s whichever team can perform to the best of their abilities in the final," says Jim.

“We have never, ever looked back at our past.

“If we perform in some areas the way we did against Kerry against Mayo, Mayo will definitely punish us.

“That has always been our process. Whether other teams look back and try and get motivation from them … it’s certainly not part of our culture.

“It’s always about the next game. And trying to be the best in our next game.”
