Cian Boland to return to action in U21HC against Wexford

Tue, 31st May 2016

Cian Boland makes his return to intercounty competitive action in Wednesday night's Bord Gáis Energy Leinster U21HC quarter-final against Wexford in Innovate Wexford Park (7.30).

The St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruad clubman missed out on this spring's NHL as he made his way back to full fitness following injury and is one of eight players who started in last year's narrow provincial quarter-final loss to Kilkenny.

The other seven who suffered that late, late defeat to the Cats are James Madden, Eoghan O'Donnell, Shane Barrett, Cian Mac Gabhann, Jake Malone, Seán Treacy and AJ Murphy.

Centre-back Shane Barrett will captain the team with midfielder Jake Malone selected as vice-captain.

The winner of Wednesday night's clash will progress to face Westmeath, victors over Kikenny, in the provincial semi-final on June 15.
