Fingal Ravens GFC held their "Reaching Out - Lets never be afraid to ask for help" seminar last Wednesday 15th July in Kettles Country House Hotel. It was a hugely successful evening with over 200 people attending from the club, the community and further a field.
Ravens secured some top class speakers for the night with Stacey Cannon (National Health & Wellbeing Co-ordinator) sharing information on the GAA Critical Incident Response Plan for Clubs and Counties, Pauline Bergin from Pieta House outlining important information on the signs and symptoms of suicide and self-harm, Stephen Maguire (Secretary of Dublin GAA Health & Wellbeing) on his personal experiences and why it is important to Reach Out and last but not least Mickey Harte, Tyrone Manager with his personal experiences in life, dealing with grief and finding support.
The focus on the night was to share information and to show it is ok not to be ok sometimes. The principle theme across all speakers was how important it is to Reach out and to never be afraid to ask for help.
Fingal Ravens GFC has also started a 'Reach Outing - Lets never be afraid to ask for help' social media trend where people introduce themselves and their club, tell us they are reaching out and nominate 3 friends to do the same. This trend has gone global already and has been passed on to more the 50 Countries - lets help get the word out there and keep spreading the Reach Out theme as it will make a difference to someone.
