FLASHBACK: Dublin v Carlow- 2013 Allianz Hurling League

Thu, 6th March 2025

By Conor Martin

Dublin take on Carlow this weekend in a crucial Allianz Hurling League fixture for the Boys in Blue. Here's a look back at a previous encounter between the sides back in 2013!

Dublin booked their place in the Division 1B final thanks to their 3-15 to 0-11 win over their fellow Leinster counterparts. We then won the Division 1B league against Limerick in the final and followed up that success with winning the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship and also reached the All-Ireland semi-final.

Marty Kavanagh had given Carlow an early lead, but Dublin would get their first goal in the eighth minute. Kevin Byrne finished a good move, which David Treacy created, but then the Dubs were guilty of being wasteful and hit several wides.

Kavanagh and Carlow were having no issue scoring at the other end, but Dublin would score their second goal 20 minutes into the game when Niall McMorrow shrugged off the Carlow defence to fire home.

David Treacy and Liam Rushe would add to our tally before half-time as Dublin held a lead of 2-5 to 0-7 at the interval.

Dublin restricted Carlow to just four second-half points as Treacy continued finding scores. Paul Ryan played super sub- scoring seven points after coming on in the 50th minute.

McMorrow would get our third goal of the game in the 57th minute as Dublin’s dominant display ensured a deserved win at Parnell Park.
