St Patrick’s Donabate made a winning start to their Go-Ahead Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship Group 4 campaign when overcoming Fingal Ravens by 1-13 to 0-13 at Rolestown on Saturday evening.

The decisive goal arrived through Colm Kavanagh, who enjoyed an influential match throughout, while Matt Molloy was another player to impress for the visitors as he finished the game with five points to his name.

Stephen Dempsey kicked some crucial points for St Pat’s in the second-half with a brace of scores by Fionan Turner and a late point by Jamie Mullins seeing the visitors home with three points to spare.

The other game in Group 4 was similarly tight as St Brigid’s edged Erin’s Isle by 1-12 to 0-10 at Farnham Drive.

In the Go-Ahead Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship Group 2, Round Towers Lusk continue to impress this year as they enjoyed a noteworthy 3-9 to 3-5 win against St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh at Martin Savage Park.

Cormac Howley was a central figure in attack for the visitors in addition to kicking 1-3 with the Towers tally boosted by two penalties converted by Liam Bohan.

Goalkeeper Adam Burns, Ciaran Murphy and Darragh Kelly were others to shine for Lusk, who completed their four-point win thanks to further scoring contributions by Aaron Naughton, Sean Bollard, Luke Caul and Adam Caul.

Towers are joined in top spot of Group 2 by a Naomh Olaf side than netted at vital times to pip St Mary’s Saggart by 2-10 to 0-14.

On a night where we witnessed only one home victory, the trend for away successes was maintained at Páirc Mearnóg as Clontarf eased past a weakened Naomh Mearnóg by 2-16 to 0-4 in Go-Ahead Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship Group 3.

Charlie Meehan and Alex Byrne caught the eye for a Clontarf team that pulled away from their opponents thanks to the scoring returns of Kevin Lillis (1-3), Kieran McKeon (0-5) and Matias Mac Donncha (0-5).

That solitary home victory arrived at Lawless Park where second-half goals from Brian Walzer and Oisin Lynch (penalty) helped Fingallians past Ballyboughal by 2-8 to 0-7.

In Go-Ahead Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship Group 1, Naomh Barróg proved far too strong for St Maur’s, enjoying a comfortable 4-18 to 1-8 win in Rush.

The visitors were resolute at the back, benefiting from the strong individual performances by goalkeeper Dave McCormack, Eoin Hart and Noel Hatton while Ryan Alexander excelled around the middle third for Barróg.

Paul Tolan (2-4) and Sean McHugh (1-6) were their key marksmen up front with the remaining green flag raised by Ciaran Gallagher.
