Ballyboden St Enda’s moved to joint top of the Go-Ahead Dublin Senior 2 Hurling Championship Group 2 table following their comfortable 3-19 to 2-9 victory over Kilmacud Crokes at Páirc Uí Mhurchú on Saturday afternoon.
The free-taking of James Roche kept the hosts in touch in an even opening-half before St Enda’s seized control of matters after the break thanks to a brace of goals from Darragh Kenny.
Fergal Ryan added a third goal for Ballyboden, who pulled away after the break with Roche, Matty Weldon and Eoghan Neill chipping in with scores from play.
There was another home win in The Bogies as Naomh Fionnbarra finished on the front foot when defeating Thomas Davis by 1-20 to 0-17.
The visitors enjoyed an 0-11 to 0-8 interval lead but with Glen Dodrill converting nine frees over the hour, the hosts began to dominate thanks largely to their half-back line of Aaron Costello, Conor Carberry and Dylan Curley.
Tommy O’Neill was another player to impress for the Cabra outfit, who landed the solitary goal of the game through Jay Roe, while substitute Eamonn Dillon impressed with a two-point cameo.
In Group 1, Castleknock enhanced their qualification prospects as they eased past Clontarf by 4-21 to 0-12 at Somerton Park.
The hosts started off on the front foot with a Niall O’Callaghan goal leaving them five points ahead by the 5th minute while a Neil Hogan goal seven minutes later left Castleknock 2-7 to 0-3 to the good.
The visitors limited the damage for the remainder of the half, trailing by 2-12 to 0-7 at the break, but goals in the final eight minutes from Conal Purcell and substitute Michael Ryan left Clontarf rooted at the bottom of the table.
The remaining fixture proved far tighter as Naomh Barróg and Craobh Chiaráin shared the spoils at Páirc Barróg on a 0-20 to 2-14 scoreline with Billy Ryan and Darren Kelly netting for the visitors.
In the Go Ahead Dublin Senior 3 Hurling Championship, Naomh Mearnóg recovered from their defeat to Na Fianna in the previous round to defeat O’Toole’s by 1-24 to 2-11 at Blunden Drive.
The bulk of the damage was done in the opening-half as the visitors enjoyed a healthy 0-17 to 0-4 lead with the midfield pairing of Stan Kinnane and Shane Kavanagh dominating events.
Kavanagh plundered 1-7 in total, 0-4 coming from placed balls, while Kinnane chipped in with two points over the hour.
Liam Mullins and Diarmuid Keevey scored six points and four points respectively while at the opposite end of the field, both full-back Tom Cosgrove and wing-back Dan Maddock delivered exceptional individual displays for the Portmarnock side.
Na Fianna continue to lead the way in Group 2 as they narrowly overcame Scoil Uí Chonaill by 1-14 to 1-10 at St Mobhi Road.
In Group 1, St Sylvester’s picked up a crucial first win of the campaign as they edged Cuala by 2-20 to 1-18 at Shanganagh Park.
The contest was evenly matched for the large part with the away side remaining in contention thanks to twelve points from Ciaran McLoughney, three of which came from play.
Syls finished on the front foot however with goals by Cian Whitney and Sean Graham proving pivotal by the final whistle.
The scoring achievement of the day belonged to Setanta’s Ryan Clarke, who struck seventeen points (five from play) as his side drew 1-20 to 2-17 away to Erin’s Isle.
