Round Up: Go Ahead Dublin Adult Football League Division 2 - 31st May

Thu, 1st June 2023

Whitehall Colmcille moved into joint top spot in the Go Ahead Dublin Adult Football League Division 2 table when overcoming St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh by 2-10 to 2-6 at Martin Savage Park on Wednesday evening.

Conor Keane top scored for the visitors with five points while the lively Sean Gannon and Enda O’Donnell pounced for goals at crucial times after Plunkett’s had controlled matters in the opening half.

Adam McDermott excelled from wing-forward for Colmcille in addition to kicking two points, with the likes of Oisin Murray, Matthew Moran, Rory Kerins and Luke McCarthy all ensuring that Whitehall turned the tide after the break.

Whitehall are now level at the summit alongside a St Brigid’s team that drew 0-13 apiece with Fingallians at Lawless Park.

Both teams remain a point ahead of Round Towers Lusk and Parnell’s, who enjoyed contrasting home victories over Ballyboughal and Kilmacud Crokes respectively.

In Thomas Ashe Park, Cormac Howley kicked five points as Lusk got the better of north county rivals Ballyboughal by 1-20 to 0-12.

Howley kept the hosts on the front foot along with the likes of Stephen Harford, Adam Caul and Luke Caul with Liam Bohan kicking four points for the winners.

James Hanratty chipped in with 1-1 with the remainder of the scores shared by Stephen Moore, Harford, Chris Tonge and Robbie Caul.

It proved far tighter in Chanel as Parnell’s kept their promotion ambitions alive with a narrow 0-10 to 0-9 victory against Kilmacud.

There was little to separate the teams throughout on a night when defences were largely on top with Cillian Hunt’s five points over the hour of crucial significance to the hosts.

Jamie Sammon and Thomas Davis excelled throughout for the winners, kicking one point and three points respectively, while Alex Hutton and Stephen Duffy also made vital contributions for the Coolock outfit.

At the opposite end of the table, Templeogue Synge Street picked up a welcome success as they defeated Scoil Uí Chonaill by 3-15 to 2-9 at Dolphin Park.

In what was a free-flowing affair, the hosts led by 2-8 to 2-7 at half-time, but pushed on after the break with 1-7 by the influential Luke O’Brien setting them on the road to victory.

Ger Vickery also featured prominently in the home attack, kicking three points, with the defensive play of Conor McLoughlin and goals from Bruce Waldron and Ollie Barrett putting further daylight between the teams.

St Mary’s Saggart were another team to move towards the relative safety of mid-table as they enjoyed a 0-17 to 1-8 win over St Maur’s in Rush.

The remaining fixtures saw St Margaret’s and Fingal Ravens play out a 2-10 apiece draw while Round Towers Clondalkin improved their survival chances when edging Naomh Mearnóg by 1-10 to 0-11 in Portmarnock.
