Round Up: Go Ahead Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 and 2 - 27th/28th June

Thu, 29th June 2023

Lucan Sarsfields cemented their place at the summit of the Go Ahead Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 table following their narrow 1-11 to 1-7 win over St Jude’s at the 12th Lock on Wednesday evening.

After losing to Thomas Davis in the previous round, Lucan got back on track with the individual performances of Emmet Ó Conghaile and Robbie Ennis central to their four-point win.

Darren Gavin kicked three points from play for the hosts, and with Henry Keogh netting and Brendan Gallagher adding four points, Sarsfields edged home thanks to further scores by Colm Walsh, Ó Conghaile, Matt Guilfoyle and Matt Coogan.

Ballyboden St Enda’s remain in second place as they proved too strong for a weakened Castleknock, prevailing by 1-16 to 0-9 at Páirc Uí Mhurchú.

Daire Sweeney maintained his fine recent form in kicking six points for the hosts, four from placed balls, with Céin D’Arcy, Ciarán O’Reilly and Luke Byrne chipping in with two points apiece.

Ryan Baynes scored the home goal and with Kieran Kennedy and Brian Bobbett impressing at the back, Boden cruised home through a point apiece from Warren Egan, Darren O’Reilly, Kennedy and James Holland.

There was another comfortable home success at Silver Park as Kilmacud Crokes moved into fourth place in the table when beating near neighbours Ballinteer St John’s by 1-13 to 0-8.

Dan Brennan top scored with 1-4 for a Crokes team best served on the night by Ben Shovlin and Mark O’Leary.

At the opposite end of the table, Skerries Harps made life easier for themselves when overcoming lowly St Vincent’s by 1-16 to 3-7.

Stephen Smith was in sparking form for Harps, kicking 1-10 over the hour, while three points apiece from Ethan Dunne and Killian McGinnis were crucial in Skerries picking up their fourth win of the campaign.

On Tuesday night, Ballymun Kickhams also made positive headway towards the safety of mid-table when defeating St Sylvester’s by 1-10 to 1-8 at Broomfield.

The foundation for their win was provided at midfield by Brian Ashton, who created the away goal for Liam O’Donovan, while four points from Robbie Bolger and a brace by the exceptional Dean Robertson proved pivotal by the final whistle.

In the Go Ahead Dublin Adult Football League Division 2 , Round Towers Lusk continue to lead the way, marginally so, as they pipped Scoil Uí Chonaill by 0-16 to 0-13 on the Clontarf Road.

Hot on their heels are a Whitehall Colmcille side that enhanced their promotion chances with a thrilling 2-13 to 1-14 win over Fingallians at Collins Avenue.

There was little to separate the teams throughout with 1-3 from substitute Eoghan O’Donnell proving the difference between the well-matched teams.

Adam McDermott scored the other Whitehall goal while four Enda O’Donnell scores and two points apiece by Sean Foran and Chris Doncel were notable scoring contributions for the hosts.

It was similarly tight in Saggart as St Mary’s continued their push towards the summit with a hard-earned 1-7 to 0-7 success against Parnell’s.

The hosts led by 1-4 to 0-6 at the break, given a perfect start through an early penalty by Eoin Murray, with the visitors staying in touch thanks to points by Harry Gardner, Thomas Davis, Cillian Hunt and Matthew Scullion.

St Mary’s added to their tally thanks to Conor Jameson, George Kenny, Murray and the influential Adam Druid with Parnell’s missing a late penalty in the tense final stages.

Tension was also present in Ballyboughal as Fingal Ravens did just enough to see off the hosts by 2-14 to 2-12.

The hosts dominated the third quarter with John Rodgers kicking some excellent scores but the visitors finished strongly with substitute James O’Donnell brining some much-needed energy to their comeback.

Jake Pope was a constant menace in the Ravens full-forward line, scoring 2-7 in total, while the likes of Conor Foley, Dan Sammon, Adam Donohue and Sean Kinsella all contributed key moments in their side’s success.

Kilmacud Crokes recorded only their third win of the year as they defeated fellow strugglers St Margaret’s by 0-19 to 1-6 at Silver Park.

The experience of Brian McGrath at the back alongside Dillon Mulligan and Cathal O’Connor helped restrict the visitors in terms of scores and with Dara Dempsey kicking 0-10 at the opposite end, Crokes eased home with Tom Doran and Conor Kelly showing well in their attack.
