St Brigid’s delivered a strong attacking performance as they edged Raheny by 0-28 to 1-20 in their Go Ahead Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 1 encounter in St Anne’s Park on Saturday evening.
Central to their win was the individual contribution of Paul Winters, with the former Dublin attacker finishing the game with 0-14 to his name, with half of that tally coming from open play.
Johnny McGuirk delivered an excellent display in the away midfield in addition to popping over three scores while Donnacha Ryan (0-4) and Shane Meagher (0-2) helped ensure a winning tally for St Brigid’s.
Kilmacud Crokes continue to lead the way as they started brightly on their way to a 4-20 to 2-14 win against Craobh Chiaráin at Silver Park.
A brace of James Dillon goals inside the opening ten minutes handed Crokes a healthy lead and a goal from Michael Roche helped ensure a 3-8 to 1-7 interval lead.
Ben Hynes saved a penalty within ten minutes of the restart and the hosts made the most of that let-off as Conal Ó Riain added a fourth goal to ensure his team’s ninth successive league win.
Brendan Scanlan and the influential Caolan Conway scored five points apiece for Kilmacud while Ciaran Donovan and Breandán Ó Conaill added a brace each by the final whistle.
Crokes now lead the table by four points from a Lucan Sarsfields side that suffered a 1-22 to 1-10 reverse away to St Vincent’s and a Na Fianna team that beat St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh by 1-21 to 1-17 at Martin Savage Park.
In Shanganagh Park, Ballyboden St Enda’s completed their third win of the season as they finished strongly to defeat Cuala by 1-22 to 1-21.
The first-half was a closely contested affair with James Roche and Oisin Byrne trading points with Cuala’s Jamie Conroy and Cormac Spain as the hosts enjoyed a two-point interval lead.
Cuala opened up a sizeable lead as they netted twice after the break but two Shane Kennedy goals brought Boden back into contention and they prevailed thanks to strong showings in the final quarter by Darragh Durkin and Eoghan O’Neill.
In Go Ahead Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 2, Naomh Barróg and Thomas Davis remain deadlocked at the top of the table following their wins against Erin’s Isle and Ballinteer St John’s respectively.
In Páirc Barróg, both Sean Duggan and Niall Ring impressed at the back as the hosts defeated Erin’s Isle by 3-15 to 1-15.
Nathan Kidd top scored with 1-7 (0-5f), and with Sean Doyle and Alex Stewart also finding the net, Barróg pulled clear courtesy of three points apiece from Matthew Owen and Luke Nolan.
It proved slightly tighter in Marley Park as Thomas Davis overcame a six-point deficit to defeat Ballinteer by 1-16 to 1-13.
The hosts led by 0-9 to 0-6 at half-time with three Kevin Ward frees and points apiece by Anthony Barrett, Conor Cronin and Fionn Lynch keeping Thomas Davis in the hunt.
The concession of a goal at the end of the third quarter, despite a brilliant double save from Cae Brennan, saw the visitors fall further behind but a Davy Byrne goal and four points on the bounce throughLiam Sinnott, Lynch, Byrne and Ward proved decisive by the final whistle.
Whitehall Colmcille now lie in joint third position alongside St Jude’s after their narrow 3-18 to 3-16 victory over Kilmacud Crokes at Collins Avenue.
Mikey Noonan was hugely influential for the hosts from centre-forward with his five points from play reflecting his massive contribution over the hour.
Full-forward Jamie Rafferty also caught the eye as he finished with 1-1 alongside Conor Sheedy while 1-7 from Paddy Spellacy and three points by Adam McDermott helped Whitehall, for whom wing-back Conor Cummins impressed, over the line.
