Naomh Olaf continued their fine start to their Go-Ahead Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 3 campaign as they defeated Na Fianna by 2-15 to 1-12 on the all-weather pitch in Stepaside on Saturday afternoon.
Eoin Foley was hugely instrumental for the winners from midfield with his personal tally of nine points over the hour including five points from placed balls.
Conor Hoban also showed well from wing-forward as he added a vital goal while Sean Bourke chipped in with 1-1.
The home scoring was completed by points from Oscar Maguire, Liam Donnelly, Harrison Byrne and Josh Walsh with Peter Keane offering great security throughout from centre-back.
The Balally outfit share top spot on six points alongside a Naomh Mearnóg team that edged O’Toole’s by 0-18 to 0-14 and Bray Emmets, who beat Round Towers Clondalkin by 0-19 to 1-13.
St Vincent’s also enjoyed a significant victory as they overcame St Maur’s by 1-21 to 2-9 in Rush.
The bulk of the damage was done in the first-half as the visitors built up a healthy 1-10 to 0-4 interval lead with the lively Kevin Lillis accounting for the Vinnies goal.
The second-half was more even but the excellence of Alan Moore ensured there was no way back for the hosts with the talented attacker finishing the game with 0-11 to his name, with six of those points coming from open play.
In what was a strong team display, the likes of Rory Dunne, Cathal Williams, Dan Dunne and Cillian O’Neill were especially resolute in defence with Davy Garland and Gavin Dunne combining well at midfield.
1-3 from Lillis alongside three points by Tom Hunter and a brace of Josh Curley scores proved more than enough for a Vinnies side that handed encouraging adult debuts to Daniel Roberts, Harry Curley, Ryan Murphy and Ronan O’Neill.
That defeat ensured St Maur’s remain rooted at the bottom of the table alongside Naomh Fionnbarra, who lost narrowly to Clontarf, and Ballyboden St Enda’s, who shipped a heavy defeat away to Commercials.
In Go-Ahead AHL4, Lucan Sarsfields are the only team that possess a perfect record following their hard-earned 1-16 to 2-8 away win at St Peregrine’s.
Cuala leapfrogged Kevins into joint-second spot thanks to their 5-10 to 0-11 victory in Bray with Kilmacud Crokes joining them on five points from six following their 2-19 to 2-11 win over St Mark’s.
St Mark’s remain in bottom spot alongside a St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh team that had their fixture with Crumlin cancelled.
Faughs also remain pointless following their heavy 7-13 to 2-14 defeat at the hands of Clanna Gael Fontenoy in Sean Moore Park.
