Naomh Mearnóg did just enough to overcome a spirited Fingallians by 1-15 to 1-13 in their tense Go Ahead Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 3 clash in Portmarnock on Sunday morning.
The hosts enjoyed a healthy 1-9 to 0-7 interval advantage with their goal coming through Mark Phelan while Liam Mullins kept their scoreboard ticking over from placed balls.
Both teams were wasteful over the hour with Mearnóg recording 18 wides to Fingallians 16 but six points by Mullins and further scores from Seán Hawkshaw, Phelan, Diarmuid Keevey, Mark O'Callaghan, Shane Kavanagh and Charlie McCarthy were enough to see the home side to victory.
There was another home win in Rathcoole as Commercials defeated Ballyboden St Enda's by 1-15 to 0-11 to claim joint spot in the table.
Adam Drewett led the way in terms of scores with ten points, eight of which came from placed balls and with Kyle Butler adding 1-2, Commercials stayed in control thanks to strong individual displays by Callum Morris, David Dungan and Michael O'Leary.
The performance of the day came at Monastery Road as Michael Boland accrued a massive 2-18 in helping Bray Emmets to defeat Round Towers Clondalkin by 2-22 to 0-13 at Monastery Road.
Boland's tally included 2-5 from open play as the visitors kept a tight hold on events through the likes of Daire Henderson, James Anders, Cian Lohan, Cian O'Byrne, Marc Lennon, Jack Fitzgerald and Sean Maloney.
In the Go Ahead Adult Hurling League Division 4, Kevins picked up their first league win of the year as they edged Kilmacud Crokes by 0-19 to 1-12 on the all-weather surface in Belfield.
The winners were solid throughout at the back, from goalkeeper Stephen Harrington, through full-back Philip O'Brien and half-backs Joey Moulds, Cathal Minogue and Richie O'Donoghue.
Dan O'Loughlin and David Reid added scores at regular intervals and with substitute Graham Dunphy impressing with two points after the break, Kevins held on thanks to six scores from Adam Mitchell at midfield.
In Skerries, Sean Harkness struck nine points in helping Lucan Sarsfields to overcome Skerries Harps by 1-14 to 0-10.
The visitors impressed through the efforts of full-back Rob Twomey, centre-back Anton McNulty, Niall Stagg and their midfield pairing of Colm Keenan and Rob Ward.
It was Andy Carroll that netted the solitary goal in the game with Emmet Allen, Keenan, Hugh Cuffe and Joey Dunne also on target for the winners.
