ROUND-UP: Go Ahead Adult Hurling League Division 1/ 2- 26th March

Tue, 28th March 2023

Na Fianna completed their second league win of the year as they defeated Naomh Barróg by 1-21 to 1-12 in their Go Ahead Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 1 encounter at St Mobhi Road on Sunday morning.

The free-taking of Aaron Jesson was instrumental in their success with eleven of his dozen points coming from placed balls.

Ciaran Stacey was another played to impress for the hosts, finishing the game with 1-2 to his name, and while Séadhna Ryan and Evan O’Brien battled gamely for Barróg, Na Fianna prevailed through strong performances by Ben Gaughran, Paul O’Dea and Sean Burke.

After two narrow losses, St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh finally got off the mark with a solid 1-22 to 0-16 win over St Brigid’s at Russell Park.

The visitors enjoyed a one-point interval lead with the foundation provided at the back by Éanna Boland, Kevin O’Gorman and Conor Scully but they began to pull away in the final quarter through the scoring prowess of Irinel Popa.

Plunkett’s pushed for home in the closing stages as they added to their lead thanks to Seán Clerkin, Ben McSweeney and Cillian Hayes.

Ballyboden St Enda’s remain unbeaten following their emphatic 4-25 to 1-11 win over near neighbours St Jude’s at Páirc Uí Mhurchú on Saturday afternoon.

Conor Dooley plundered two goals for the hosts, who build up a sizeable advantage through the scoring contributions of Luke McDwyer, Leon Kennedy, Malachy Codd and Niall Ryan.

Both Boden wing-backs, Luke Mulligan Lynch and Jack Lambert, were excellent throughout while Niall McMorrow looked sharp when introduced as a second-half substitute.

Elsewhere, Cuala and St Vincent’s enjoyed home wins over Kilmacud Crokes and Faughs respectively while Lucan Sarsfields pipped Craobh Chiaráin by 2-12 to 1-14 in Clonshaugh.

In Division 2, Erin’s Isle secured their first win of the season when recording an 1-20 to 0-9 away win at Naomh Fionnbarra.

Once again, Graham King proved their scoring talisman with a personal tally of 0-13 while Lorcan Finnegan was also lovely as he chipped in with 1-2.

Fran Carroll and Darren Hanlon kept matters tight at the back for the Finglas side who kept control of the game through a strong midfield partnership of Darren Kelly and Glen Duggan.

At Marley Park, Ballinteer St John’s picked up their second successive win as they edged Castleknock by 1-17 to 1-14.

The hosts led by 0-10 to 0-8 at the break and the tightness continued after the break but a Glenn Whelan goal helped keep St John’s on the front foot as they claimed their second win on the bounce.

Whelan finished with a telling 1-3 and with Seamus Fenton adding six frees, Ballinteer did just enough thanks to four points from Tom Aherne and a point apiece by Rob Aherne, Ben Hyland, Liam O’Sullivan and Iain Ó hEithir.

In Broomfield, goals by Conor Buckley, Eoin Buckley and Cian Whitney proved key as St Sylvester’s beat O’Toole’s by 3-15 to 0-16.

Ballyboden St Enda’s and Raheny continue to top the table as both teams enjoyed their third straight wins with Boden edging Setanta by 3-15 to 2-17 in Poppintree while Raheny eased past Scoil Uí Chonaill by 3-14 to 1-6.
