Round-Up: Go Ahead Adult Football League Division Two- 19th Feb

St Oliver Plunkett/Eoghan Ruadh completed a strong second-half comeback to edge Round Towers Lusk by 1-10 to 0-12 in their Go Ahead Adult Football League Division 2 opening fixture at Martin Savage Park on Sunday morning. 

Gareth ‘Nesty’ Smith once again highlighted his scoring prowess and enduring class with some key scores as Plunkett’s recovered from a 1-4 to 0-11 deficit, the home goal coming through Craig Dunleavy. 

Tom Cullen and Conor Downey kept matters tight at the back for the hosts after the break while Irinel Popa and Jack Carroll showed well up front alongside the evergreen Smith. 

At Chanel, Parnell’s began their return to AFL2 with a comfortable 2-12 to 1-6 victory over Round Towers Clondalkin. 

In what was a strong team performance, the likes of Craig Nolan, Alex Hutton and Adam Myler ensured Parnell’s remained on the front foot while substitute Karl Halligan impressed with a scoring cameo of 1-1.

Cillian Hunt top scored with 0-7 (5f), with the remaining scores shared by Stephen Duffy (1-1), Myler (0-2) and Hutton (0-1).

At the Clontarf Road, Scoil Uí Chonaill started impressively as they accounted for Ballyboughal by 2-13 to 0-10 with a wonderful team goal executed by Brendan Doherty the highlight of the morning.

Robert Kennedy (0-5) and Conor Dixon (0-3) ensured Scoil gained tangible reward on the scoreboard and their victory was confirmed through a second-half goal by substitute Paraic Naughton.

There was another home win in Rush as goals from Ciaran Archer and Liam Doran saw St Maur’s edge North County neighbours St Margaret’s by 2-14 to 2-12.

Archer added three points to his goal and with Doran also scoring a brace of points, the hosts eked out the win thanks to further scoring contributions from Dan Redmond (0-3), Jack Burke (0-2), Evan Carthy (0-2), Aaron Lacey (0-1) and Michael Reilly (0-1).

Elsewhere, Whitehall Colmcille defeated Fingal Ravens by 2-8 to 2-5 while Fingallians, St Brigid’s and Naomh Mearnóg picked up away wins at Templeogue Synge Street, Kilmacud Crokes and St Mary’s Saggart respectively.
