St Brigid’s moved into joint top spot of the Go Ahead Ireland Dublin Adult Football League Division 2 table following their impressive 1-12 to 0-7 victory over Templeogue Synge Street at Dolphin Park on Saturday evening.
Having lost to near neighbours St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh three days earlier, St Brigid’s bounced back superbly with 1-2 from Scott Daly more than helping them on their way to their fifth league win of the year.
Gavin Sheridan (0-4), the influential Cian McEntire (0-2) and Dara Doyle (0-2) kept the away scoreboard ticking over while Sean Egan was his usual busy self around centrefield.
The hosts tried in vain to stay in touch but struggled to make much of an impression in attack with Gavin Kane and Eoin Leen impressing at the back for the Blanchardstown outfit.
There was another away win in Chanel as joint leaders Parnell’s succumbed to Ballyboughal by 1-10 to 0-12.
The visitors enjoyed a healthy four-point interval lead with midfielder Matthew Farrell finding the net and he enjoyed a strong partnership throughout alongside Cahal Flynn.
Despite the hosts closing the gap through the free-taking of Conor McGrath and Cillian Hunt, Ballyboughal remained resolute at the back through the efforts of Diarmuid Finneran, Simon Barrett, Ross Gallagher and Cormac Flynn.
Both Gerry Seaver and Cormac Wynne excelled for the visitors, kicking three points apiece, with the scores of John Rodgers (0-2) and Cian Warren (0-1) proving crucial by the final whistle.
Whitehall Colmcille were another team to enjoy their travels with goals at critical times seeing them past St Mary’s by 4-9 to 0-9 in Saggart.
Keith Campbell impressed throughout from full-forward, scoring 1-3 in total, while Sean Gannon linked play superbly from centre-forward in addition to kicking 1-1.
The remaining goals came via Enda O’Donnell and Conor Keane for a Whitehall team well served by defenders Cian Murphy, Matt Moran and Josh Thorp with Oisin murray and Fergal Swaine on top at centrefield.
In Rush, Neil O’Flynn grabbed a hat-trick as Scoil Uí Chonaill recorded a comfortable 5-11 to 2-6 win against St Maur’s.
The former Dublin minor excelled from the start with his three goals augmented by further green flags by Colm Geraghty and Emmet Rogan.
