Rivals Cuala and Crokes set for ‘epic’ rematch

Cuala manager Mattie Kenny will be hoping his team are getting their timing right as they get ready to face Kilmacud Crokes in this Saturday’s Dublin SHC final in Parnell Park (3.30).

It’s a repeat of last year’s final in which the Dalkey side prevailed and victory over Crokes would see Cuala secured the title for the third year in-a-row.

“This is the time of the year that players should be looking to play and if you have any thoughts on being a decent hurler, this is the period when you should really want to be involved, at the business end of the championship,” says Mattie.

“Playing in September, October and November is what it is all about for the club player as this is when championships are decided and any hurler worth his salt should be ready to go to the well at this time of year.

“This team has gelled really well over the past few years.

“Our mantra every day is that everyone works hard for the team and they are an impressive bunch of guys.

“They go out every day and give it their best and although we make mistakes every day, we wipe the slate clean every time and move on from there.

“We try to give an honest account of ourselves every day and we are always looking for a level of performance and see where that performance brings us and thankfully, that got us across the line on Sunday.

“No matter who is in the county final ,you are always looking forward to it and Kilmacud are a fine side so I’m sure it will be another epic clash here on Saturday afternoon,” adds Mattie.
