SUNDAY, JULY 1: Croke Park

DUBLIN 2-11 WEXFORD 1-10

Dublin booked their berth in the Leinster SFC final following this well-contested provincial semi-final at Croke Park.

Redmond Barry stunned the then All-Ireland champions with a ninth minute goal, and while Diarmuid Connolly goaled for the Dubs in the 22th minute it was the Slaneysiders who led 1-8 to 1-5 at half-time thanks to three Ben Brosnan points.

Dublin suffered the blow of Diarmuid Connolly's dismissal in the second half but Kevin McManamon's goal in the 52nd minute was to prove crucial with late scores from Kevin McManamon, Kevin Nolan and Bryan Cullen securing victory.

Kevin McManamon also played a key role in Dublin's first-half goal when he slipped the ball off to Diarmuid Connolly, who beat Anthony Masterson with a precise finish.

In the second-half points from Stephen Cluxton (free), Bernard Brogan (free) and Kevin Nolan brought Dublin level by the 45th minute.

The introduction of Michael Darragh Macauley gave Dublin a greater foothold around the middle sector.

But scores from Adrian Flynn and Shane Roche edged Wexford back in front before McManamon scored Dublin's second goal.

A Paul Flynn free found Bernard Brogan, who sent McManamon in on goal to blast to the roof of the net on 52 minutes for a one-point lead.
