Preview: Dublin v Westmeath- 2024 Dioralyte Walsh Cup

Tue, 2nd January 2024

By Conor Martin

Dublin’s Senior Hurlers' 2024 begins on Thursday night, as they take on Westmeath at Parnell Park in Round 1 of the Dioralyte Walsh Cup.

Match tickets are available here.

Dublin have won the competition eight times, with their last title coming in 2022 following a final win over Wexford.

The Walsh Cup gives Micheál Donoghue the opportunity to cast his eye over his panel ahead of the Allianz Hurling League Division 1B campaign, which begins at the start of February with the visit of Tipperary to the capital.

It also gives members of the panel the chance to impress in pre-season.

It's the second year in-a-row that Dublin have faced Westmeath in the Walsh Cup, with Dublin coming out on top last year in their meeting in Kinnegad.

Westmeath have claimed the Walsh Cup on one occasion- winning the competition in 1982.
