Minor footballers raise in excess of €10,000 for Irish Lung Fibrosis Association

Tue, 27th April 2021

The 2021 Dublin minor football panel and management completed a very successful fundraising cycle for the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA) last Sunday.

Dublin's under-17 players and management combined to cover a distance equal to the perimeter of Ireland (3171km) all in the name of a great cause.

After setting a target of raising €3,000 for the charity the total is now €10,400 and rising - the GoFundMe page will remain open to donations until this coming Friday. Click here to donate

Heroes of the recent past also participated with retired multiple All-Ireland winning Dublin footballers Michael Darragh Macauley, who is an ambassador for the ILFA, joined by his former county team-mate Paul Flynn for one last lap of honour!

Each member of the panel and management individually covered a minimum of 50km with their endeavours tracked on the Strava app.

The Dubiln minor management and players wish to thank everyone who contributed to their fundraising drive with donations and/or messages of support.

Note:
The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA) is the national patient organisation for lung fibrosis. ILFA supports patients and families living with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and provides education and support to respiratory healthcare professionals. The word 'Idiopathic' means unknown thus the cause of IPF has not been identified. Approximately 400 patients in Ireland are diagnosed with IPF every year.
