GO AHEAD DUBLIN ADULT HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP: MAY 28-29

By Daire Walsh

Ballyboden St Enda's restored their four-point lead at the summit of the Go Ahead Adult Hurling League Division One table with a 3-18 to 2-14 victory against St Brigid’s at Russell Park on Sunday morning.

Following Lucan Sarsfields’ 1-20 to 1-16 win over Na Fianna at St Mobhi Road a day earlier, the gap had tightened and there was some pressure on ‘Boden to produce a response. Nevertheless, the Firhouse Road outfit preserved their 100% record with an eighth triumph on the bounce and David Curtin’s men will be hoping to extend their impressive run when they welcome Craobh Chiarain to Pairc Ui Murchu on June 11.

St Vincent’s currently occupy third place with a game in hand on both ‘Boden and Lucan. They will finally get up to speed next week (June 8th) against Na Fianna at RCSI Dardistown and while their northside rivals will present a tough challenge, a victory in that fixture would see them moving up to second in the top-tier standings.

Their one loss to date in 2022 was at the hands of Ballyboden on May 24th. However, they bounced back from that reversal by getting the better of Cuala on a score of 2-15 to 1-12 at Pairc Naomh Uinsionn on May 24.

After enduring a mixed start to their campaign, reigning Dublin SFC champions Kilmacud Crokes are beginning to hit top form in AHL1. Supplementing a 1-22 to 0-20 triumph over Craobh Chiaráin at Clonshaugh in the previous round, the Stillorgan side recorded an astonishing 1-40 to 3-14 win against Whitehall Colmcille at Collins Avenue on Saturday.

Relentless in their pursuit of scores throughout, Crokes led by 15 points (0-23 to 0-8) at the midway point in the action. Whitehall did display an eye for goal in the second period, but it wasn’t enough to halt their opponents.

The dependable Oisin O’Rorke finished with a personal tally of 11 points, but this was a game in which Crokes had a series of multiple scorers. Back on club duty after featuring in all of five of Dublin’s games in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, Ronan Hayes helped himself to an impressive tally of five points.

This haul was matched by attacker Fionn Ó Ceallaigh (0-5), but was ultimately trumped by Michael Roche (1-3) and Dara Purcell (0-6). Brendan Scanlan and Brian Hayes also chipped in with three points apiece as Kilmacud kept the scoreboard ticking over until the final whistle was eventually blown.

There was a return to winning ways for Faughs on the Osprey pitch in Tymon Park on Sunday with Fergal Heavey registering a superb hat-trick of goals in a 4-18 to 0-15 success at the expense of Naomh Barrog. It was a similar case at Clonshaugh for Craobh Chiarain, who bounced back from their disappointment at losing out to Kilmacud by getting the better of Ballinteer St John’s on the same day (0-19 to 1-13).
