Ger Brennan looking forward to Dubs Stars clash

Ger Brennan looking forward to Dubs Stars clash

Wed, 20th December 2017

St Vincent's centre-back Ger Brennan is looking forward to his club hosting this year's Dublin Bus/Herald Dubs Stars games this weekend.

Ger is one of several Vincent's players who will face the Dublin footballers in their Marino base this coming Saturday (12.30).

With the All-Ireland champions going on a team holiday post-Christmas many new faces who could play in the upcoming O'Byrne Cup are expected to line out for the Dubs.

The game is followed by the hurling clash (2.0) when St Vincent's clubman, new Dublin manager Pat Gilroy, takes his men into battle for the first time.

"It's a privilege for St Vincent's to host both games and I know from chatting to a few of the boys from the club that they are really looking forward to the game," says Ger Brennan.

"I won my first Dubs Stars award back in 2006 and for me, that was a great platform to show what I was about and impress the Dublin management.

"It was a massive opportunity for me then and I have always enjoyed playing in the matches.

"It marks the end of one year in one sense and really the start of the next and there's great anticipation within the club ahead of next Saturday."

Ger was talking at last Friday's Dublin Bus/Herald Dubs Stars awards when Seán Moran (Cuala) and Nathan Mullins (St Vincent's) were respectively named Dubs Stars Hurler and Footballer of the Year.
