Dublin footballers were left frustrated after suffering a defeat in Newbridge on Sunday afternoon against Kildare.
After a bright start, Dublin were left to rue some good goal chances going astray and not capitalising when in scoring positions. Ciaran Kilkenny and Sean Bugler did have some success in the opening stages which also saw Tom Lahiff handpass a score after KIldare goalkeeper Aaron O'Neill made a good save from a Brian Fenton goal bound shot.
Kildare then started to take advantage of the wind that was assisting them with long range scores from Daniel Flynn and Jimmy Hyland. The home side led 0-8 to 0-4 at half time.
Dublin started the second half with scores from Dean Rock and Bugler but then conceded a goal with Jimmy Hyland palming the ball to the net from close range.
Brain Howard and Dean Rock combined minutes later but last ditch Kildare defending cleared the ball away from the goal and left Dublin chasing the game. Late scores from Lee Gannon and Rock closed the gap to a goal but once substitute Aaron Byrne's shot was deflected out for a 45 that was the last real chance gone.
Dublin travel to Omagh in two weeks time to face Tyrone on Sunday March 13th.
