With the visit of Limerick to the capital this weekend, we’re looking back at the Dubs 12-point win over the Treaty County in the Allianz Hurling League Division 1 Quarter-Final back in 2015.
Dublin were excellent value for the win and never looked threatened by Limerick.
Mark Schutte and David Treacy were Dublin’s deadly duo in front of the posts, scoring 1-5 and 0-9, respectively.
Schutte was in fine form and picked up three points for himself and Dublin as the Boys in Blue held a comfortable 0-14 to 0-8 lead when the teams headed down the Croke Park tunnel for a breather.
There was no change in momentum as Dublin picked up where they had finished in the first set of 35 minutes and shortly after the restart, we found ourselves 10 points clear of our opponents when Schutte rifled the ball home past Limerick keeper Nicky Quaid.
At the back, Dublin were solid, notably Chris Crummey and Paul Kelly’s efforts, which were key to keeping Limerick frustrated and Dublin well in charge of the last eight clash.
As the game ticked towards 70 minutes, Treacy demonstrated his prowess when it came to point-scoring from placed balls, whilst Dublin hit six points without response to round off an excellent performance.
