After several agonising heart-break stories in recent times Fingallians have now secured SFC status after defeating Ballymun Kickhams 2-16 to 2-7 in Sunday’s IFC final at Garristown.
Fingallians led 1-4 to 0-5 at the break, the goal came just before the interval when Donal Farrell finished to the net after a fine move initiated by a superb fetch at midfield by Cillian Power.
Ten minutes into the second half the Swords men grabbed their second goal when Dublin senior Paul Flynn rifled to the net following good interplay with Oisín Lynch.
However, Kickhams battled right to the finish with goals from Elliott Craig and Colm Hulton cutting the deficit.
