Faughs outclass Plunkett’s in second half

Sat, 24th September 2016

FAUGHS 3-24 ST OLIVER PLUNKETT'S/EOGHAN RUADH 1-10

Faughs forwards put on a second half scoring exhibition to outclass Plunkett's in this Dublin SHC 'A' group clash at Parnell Park on Friday night.

The Tymon North side led 1-11 to 1-8 at the break but outscored the Navan Road men by 2-13 to 0-3 after the break.

Fergal Heavey grabbed both Faughs second half goals as the former Dublin minor hurler (2010) amassed a superb individual tally of 2-6.

It was a day to remember also for Dublin U21 of this year, Chris Bennett (pictured above), who scored 1-8 (0-5f), his goal coming in the opening half, on the same day as he was shortlisted for the Bord Gáis Energy U21 Hurling Team of the Year.

In the opening half Niall Murray replied with a goal for Plunkett's after Bennett had already raised a green flag for Faughs and the Navan Road side were reliant on the deadball accuracy of Stuart Mullen up front.

However, it was one-way traffic in the second half with Carl O'Mahony putting in a lively display for the winners. Plunkett's cause was not helped by the dismissal of two players in the second period.
