Dubs in action on the double this Wednesday night

Mon, 1st January 2018

Defending O’Byrne Cup champions, Dublin, begin their defence of the title when they face Offaly in Wednesday night’s Bord na Móna O’Byrne Cup encounter in Parnell Park (8.0).

The Faithful County will have a spring in their step following their impressive 16-point victory over Wexford in O’Connor Park last Saturday afternoon.

Last year the Dubs fielded an new-look side in this competition and they will so again on this occasion as most of the All-Ireland SFC winning panel are currently enjoying their team holiday in South Africa.

The Dublin panel that will participate in the O’Byrne Cup have had two challenge matches together – the official opening of the David Billings pitch in UCD as well as the Dubs Stars challenge before Christmas.

Dublin defeated the Dubs Stars with the likes of Aaron Byrne, who scored two goals, Collie Basquel, Killian O'Gara, Adam Rodgers and Ross McGowan among others doing well.

Following Wednesday night’s game Dublin will travel to face Wexford in St Patrick’s Park, Enniscorthy on Sunday (2.0).

The senior hurlers are also in action on Wednesday night when the place Meath in Abbotstown (pitch 1, 8.0) in their Walsh Cup clash.

Meath have already experienced action in the competition when defeating Antrim by a point last Saturday.

Dublin will host Antrim in Parnell Park on Sunday (2.0) while a different Dublin selection have a challenge game against Tipperary in Dr Morris Park, Thurles on Saturday (12 noon).
