CUALA 1-19 BALLYBODEN ST ENDA'S 1-14 (After extra-time)
Cuala showed the confidence of champions when the reigning holders upped their game in extra-time to run out five-point victors over Boden in a titanic battle in Friday night's Dublin SHC 'A' quarter-final.
Late points in normal time from Paul Ryan, two frees including one from halfway, and one from play from Shane Durkin saw Ballyboden St Enda's force the game into extra-time (1-13 each).
However, the Dalkey side were the dominant team in extra-time with David Treacy to the fore.
Two David Treacy points, including one free, had them two to the good at the interval in extra-time while in the second period he tagged on four more (two frees, two play) with further points from his younger brother Seán and the impressive Colm Cronin seeing Cuala to victory.
In normal time Boden got a good start when in the eighth minute Simon Lambert's sideline cut deflected off a Cuala hand into the net.
Niall McMorrow added a super point with Conal Keaney and Niall Ryan adding to their advantage.
Two minutes before the break Mark Schutte was fouled for a penalty which David Treacy blasted to the net to leave Boden in front 1-7 to 1-6 at half-time.
Cuala looked set for the winners enclosure late on after hitting six points but Boden found a way back with points from Ryan (two) and Durkin to tie the game up.
In extra-time Boden had no answer as the Treacy brothers and Cronin got the scores to make the difference.
