Cuala looking forward to Leinster road

Cuala looking forward to Leinster road

Tue, 1st November 2016

Cuala forward David Treacy is looking forward to the Dalkey side’s Leinster campaign, hoping to go one better than last year when they lost in the provincial decider to Wexford’s Oulart-The Ballagh.

The back-to-back Dublin senior hurling champions face Laois’ Borris-Kilcotton in the familiar surroundings of Parnell Park this Sunday (2.0) in the AIB Leinster Club SHC quarter-final.

“Now, we can look forward. All the time after that match (against Oulart), we felt it was one we left behind us. We didn’t do ourselves justice.

“So there is unfinished business there for us. But it starts again.

"And we take it match by match. And that’s the only way we can think about it."

Cuala’s mettle has been well road-tested in their Dublin SHC campaign and once again last Saturday they needed to dig deep to forge victory after having let a commanding lead slip.

"In the semi and the quarters, we had some really tough matches. So our aim was to start well in the first ten minutes and it did come off.

“But credit to Crokes in the second-half. They’re never bet until they’re bet and they brought it back from seven points (down) to level it and then go ahead."

However, Cuala came strong at the finish with late scores from Colm Cronin and Mark Schutte to secure victory last weekend.

Fingallians and Raheny are also in provincial action this weekend.

The Swords side, newly crowned Dublin inter football champions, face Louth's St Joseph's on Saturday in Cluskey Park, Dromisken in the Leinster Club IFC quarter-finals.

Raheny face Kildare's Celbridge in the Leinster Club IHC quarter-finals at O'Toole Park on Saturday (2.0).
