Confirmed Details For Walsh & O’Byrne Cups

Holders Dublin will begin the defence of the O’Byrne Cup on Wednesday, January 3 against Offaly in Parnell Park (8.0).

The Dubs are grouped with Offaly and Wexford and will play the Slaneysiders away on Sunday, January 7.

The winner of the group advance to the semi-finals.

The senior hurlers also begin action Wednesday, January 3 when they face Meath in the Walsh Cup.

The hurlers then face Antrim on Sunday, January 7 in Parnell Park.

The winner of each group advance to the semi-finals.

O’Byrne Cup SF

  • Group 1: Dublin, Offaly, Wexford
  • Group 2: Kildare, Louth, Longford
  • Group 3: Meath, Carlow, Wicklow
  • Group 4: Westmeath, Laois
  • Format: Round robin with first placed team advancing to semi-finals. Westmeath and Laois play each other home and away with aggregate score deciding who tops Group 4.
  • Dates: 30 Dec, 3 Jan, 7 Jan. Semi-finals – 13/14 Jan. Final – 20/21 Jan.
  • Opening Fixtures: 30 Dec: Offaly v Wexford, Louth v Longford, Wicklow v Carlow, Westmeath v Laois.

Walsh Cup SH

  • Group 1: Wexford, Carlow, Wicklow.
  • Group 2: Kilkenny, Kildare, Laois.
  • Group 3: Dublin, Antrim, Meath.
  • Group 4: Offaly, Westmeath.
  • Format: Round robin with first placed team advancing to semi-finals. Offaly and Westmeath will play each other home and away with aggregate score deciding who tops Group 4.
  • Dates: 30 Dec, 3 Jan, 7 Jan. Semi-finals: 14 Jan. Final: 21 Jan.
  • Opening Fixtures: 30 Dec: Carlow v Wicklow, Kildare v Laois, Meath v Antrim, Offaly v Westmeath

In 2018 Championship action the senior hurlers face Kilkenny at home on Sunday, May 13; then Wexford away on Sunday May 20; they have a break following weekend followed by Offaly at home on Sunday, June 3 and finishing round-robin stage away against Galway on Saturday, June 9.

In the Leinster U21HC Dublin are grouped with Carlow, Laois and Ulster’s representatives (Antrim or Down). Dublin will face Laois and ‘Ulster’ versus Carlow, the two winners then meet for right to join Galway, Offaly and Westmeath in the quarter-finals. Kilkenny and Wexford await in semi-finals.

The new Leinster U20FC sees Dublin grouped with Longford, Wexford and Westmeath.

The Leinster MFC (Under-17) also starts with a round-robin format with the Dubs facing Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Offaly and Wicklow.

In the Leinster MHC (Under-17) Dublin are grouped with Kilkenny, Laois and Wexford in Tier 1.
