Castleknock primed for historic day in Parnell Park

Fri, 4th November 2016

Castleknock dynamo Shane Boland is hoping his team’s “winning mentality” comes to the fore as they take centre stage in Parnell Park for Saturday’s Dublin SFC final against St Vincent’s (3.0).

For the Dublin 15 club it’s a unique occasion – playing in their first Dublin senior final and they are up against the most successful club in Dublin club football history.

However, Castleknock have shown no fear of either the occasion or their opposition in their run to the final, attributes that they will call on once against this Saturday.

“We have always been Division One at whatever age group and have always been there or thereabouts every single year,” says Shane.

“So when it came to adult, we had a mentality that we should be there or thereabouts. And that has stood to us as we progressed through the levels.

“Tir na nÓg, that is our nursery, it still is today. And that is where we all started.

“We have all been there from the first day that the club ever started. First training session – that is how long we have been around.

“We were always there or thereabouts in both codes and when you have that winning mentality embedded in you, it kind of sticks to you as you move up the grades,” adds the Castleknock man.
