Ballymun power past Tarf; Skerries earn late draw with Lucan in SFC1

Sat, 28th April 2018

Ballymun Kickhams powered to a 4-18 to 1-6 Dublin SFC1 Group 4 victory over Clontarf in Balgriffin on Friday night.

Even in the absence of the injured Dean Rock the Mun attack had too much power and pace for the Tarf defence.

Early goals from Karl Keely, following a great James McCarthy run, and Leon Young, after being played in by Conor Kavanagh, gave Kickhams the ideal start.

With Paddy Small and Fiach Andrews kicking good points the Mun were in control by the break when leading 2-8 to 0-4.

Despite a point on the restart from Patrick Mohan for Clontarf, Ballymun put the game out of reach with an unanswered 1-5, including 1-1 from Ted Furman, who finished the game as the top-scorer with 1-6 (0-2f).

Conor Kavanagh, go the fourth Mun goal, following up on his goal in the last round victory over St Brigid's while Kevin Lillis got a brilliant late goal for Clontarf.

At St Margaret's a Conor O'Brien fisted point earned Skerries Harps a 1-12 to 1-12 draw with Lucan Sarsfields in Dublin SFC1 Group 2.

Sarsfields opened up a 0-5 to 0-2 lead before the 20th minute with Brendan Gallagher in fine form.

However, points from Jack Smith, Shane Hickey and Dublin captain of 2011, Bryan Cullen, brought the sides level 0-5 each.

The were still level at the break (0-7 each) before a converted penalty by Harry Dawson, following a foul on Stephen Smith, put Skerries ahead.

But through a Brendan Gallagher goal, he finished with 1-7 (0-3f), Lucan stole into a late lead before O'Brien secured the draw for Harps.
