‘We’re challenging ourselves to get rid of inconsistency tag’: Ger Cunningham

Mon, 7th March 2016

Dublin manager Ger Cunningham is happy with the response of his troops since their opening night display against Tipp.

The Dubs have subsequently taken the scalps of Galway (in Parnell Park) and Cork (last Saturday in Croke Park), this Sunday they travel to Waterford to face the reigning league holders.

“We’re challenging ourselves to get rid of this ‘inconsistency’ tag. So it was good to get a performance against after last week,” says Ger Cunningham.

“We came here expecting a rebound from Cork from the last two results.

"But we have to focus on ourselves. We knew we had to win our home matches to have a chance in the league and that’s what we’ve done.”

The Dublin boss reckons while it was great to record a victory in Croker on Saturday night that Dublin’s record there is, perhaps, over-talked.

"I think our record in Croke Park . . . I think sometimes people make too much of it.

“The lads love playing in Croke Park. It’s their home equally as much as Parnell Park.

“This is the place you want to play. This is the place you want to perform."
