We took a lot of positives from League: Ger Cunningham

Dublin hurlers enter the Championship on Sunday week in a positive frame of mind, says manager Ger Cunningham.

The Dubs enjoyed a fruitful National League campaign though were left to rue a narrow semi-final defeat to Cork having held a 12-point advantage at one stage.

"I’ve been saying all along. We’re only looking for consistency. Ok, you’d like to win all the games. But you have to be consistent and get good performances. The League was good for us," says Ger.

"We got the chance to see some players and for us to get to know them. I think overall, the League was very positive."

The Dublin boss also confirmed that Niall McMorrow (thumb injury) is likely to be ruled out of action for four to six weeks a considerable blow considering how he fared having settled into the midfield during the conclusion of the League.

"Since the Galway game in the League, he has settled in really well. He played very well against Limerick and he played very well against Cork. He really put his hand up for a position so it’s disappointing for the player himself."

“But hopefully his season won’t be over. Hopefully he’ll be back. The danger is that if you leave it go, it could develop into something that would be harder to fix later on. It looks like he needs an operation to put back the tendon. Hopefully it will only be four to six weeks.”
