With two regulation games lin their NHL Division 1A campaign remaining the Dublin hurlers could not ask for a more difficult run-in.
This Sunday (2.0) they face reigning Division 1 holders, Waterford, in Walsh Park whose form in the current league mirrors that of their impressive NHL form of 2015.
The Dubs then conclude their group games with a trip to Nowlan Park to meet All-Ireland champions Kilkenny.
Ger Cunningham's men though have found good form themselves with consecutive victories over Galway (Parnell Park) and then last Saturday against Cork in Croke Park.
Dublin defender Cian O'Callaghan is focussed on the boys in blue maintaining the level of intensity, team-work and clinical edge that has brought them those two wins as they set themselves up for the difficult games ahead.
“The Tipperary game we were just completely lacking in intensity,” says Cian.
“That was kind of evident for anyone to see. It was just a mindset change.
“We’re trying to get to that intensity in every match and just keep trying to do that.
“You’re not going to change as a player in a week, physically or whatever.
“Your hurling’s not going to change, so it’s all just trying to get that mindset right,” adds the Cuala clubman.
“Obviously, we’re playing Kilkenny and Waterford next but any match against (those teams) are good because you’re pitching yourself against the best.”
