Ciarán Kilkenny says Dublin’s hunger for winning Leinster Championships is still as strong as ever despite all their recent successes.
The Dubs face an in-form Kildare in Croke Park on Sunday, July 16 in the provincial decider and the Castleknock clubman is relishing the prospect.
“We love winning the Delaney Cup and ten years ago, sure, Dublin weren’t winning it,” says Ciarán.
“Times have changed, but we can’t forget the past, that there was a lot of years when Dublin weren’t winning the Leinster championship.
“We need to recognise that this is a special group and it’s important that we try to keep building on that, keep improving and keep adapting, so we can hopefully keep performing.”
Ciarán, who scored his first goal for the Dubs in either league or senior championship against Westmeath last Sunday, knows that Kildare are a significant step up.
“We’ve a serious challenge ahead of us. So we just focus on keeping ourselves right, individually and then collectively as a group.”
