Johnny McCaffrey says Dublin hurlers will have to up their game for Saturday’s All-Ireland SHC qualifier against Limerick in Semple Stadium, Thurles on Saturday evening (5.0).
The Dubs overcame Laois last weekend but their shooting at times did not match up to the approach play.
“(We have) a lot to work on,” says Johnny. “We had 24 wides altogether I think. It’s a lot in a game like that. We have a lot of work to do during the week. We have to step it up a level next week.”
Reflecting on the victory over the O’Moore County the Lucan Sarsfields man stressed the importance of the win itself after the low of the Leinster semi-final replay display against Galway.
“We needed that, we needed to get back on the horse after the last day. It’s just great to get back into Championship hurling and to get a win.
“Laois would have been smarting after their defeat and so were we. Playing in their home patch they were never going to give up anything easy, neither were we so it was a tough physical Championship game and it was great to get at this time of year.”
